[Note on the Stamps]
New definitive stamps were issued following the design theme of revised definitive stamps issued on 2014 March 3, "The Nature of Japan." The motif of 5-yen definitive stamp is Macaca fuscata, family of Cercopithecidae, which is native to Japan islands. This species is also known as the northernmost living monkey on earth. In Japan, the north and the south limits for its habitat are Shimokita Peninsula, Aomori Prefecture and Yakushima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture respectively.
