Le Corbusier was an architect and urban planner who had a considerable impact on architecture and urban planning in the 20th century. Chosen from the work of Le Corbusier, the 17 sites comprising this transnational serial property spread over seven countries were registered as world heritage site for their outstanding contribution to modern architectural movement. The Main Building of the National Museum of Western Art, one of the component sites, is the only building designed by Le Corbusier in Japan.
