(Small Notes for the Issue)

Satsuma-yaki Pottery is ceramic ware for the tea ceremony and general use made at kiln sites in Kagoshima. Several of the earliest kilns were founded by potters from Korea four hundred years ago. The stamps depict the early Satsuma-yaki teabowl (Hibakari chawan, R255) and the modern vase (Sometsuke houou-mon hirokuchi kabin, R256).
