On 6 August 1945, sixty years ago, the atomic bomb was dropped at the central
area (Nakashima) of Hiroshima. By the Hiroshima Peace Memorial City Construction
Law of 6 August, 1949, the area was reconstructed to be the peace memorials.
Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum marks the 50th anniversary of the opening
in August 2005.
