(Small Notes for the issue)

These stamps were issued to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the Shobo-Gumi, the fire-fighting division, since the establishment of Shobo-Kisoku (regulation) in 1894. The stamps depict popular Kabuki actors dressed as fire-fighters in color prints "Tokyo Ichi-ni datekurabe" by Toyohara Kunichika.
