Philatelic Week was enacted in 1947 to facilitate stamp collecting hobby
among people by introducing cultural value of stamps as well as their aesthetic
quality. This year, paintings of two sides of a folding screen "Baiou Shoukinzu" and "Kikuni Tsuruzu"(Itabashi Art Museum) by mid-Edo period painter, Kano Eishuku (1675-1724) were adopted for postage stamp design. |
