[Note on the Stamps]
The stamps are issued to commemorate the designation of "World Tsunami Awareness Day" as November 5 at the UN General Assembly in order to improve public understanding and increase awareness of a threat of and measures against tsunami around the world. This day comes from the story of "the Fire of Inamura (Rice Sheaves)" which told about tsunami caused by Ansei Nankai Earthquake on November 5, 1854 (old calendar).
