Dogo Hot Spa
Dogo onsen (hot spa) in Matsuyama is one of Japan's oldest spas. It is mentioned in many literary works, including Natsume Soseki's Botchan (1906).
The building of public-operated hot-spring bathhouse (depicted in the stamp) was built in 1894, and is appointed as one of the Important Cultural Properties in Japan. The stamp of the same design was issued on 1 June 1989 (R4), but the denomination was changed from 62 yen to 80 yen for this time.
