Based on its great nature and land, agriculture has been an important part of economy in Hokkaido, forming a sizable percentage of Japan's total agricultural production, namely, 41% of sweet corn, 77% of potatoes, 20% of asparagus, and 12% of melons. The stamps depict these vegetables and fairies.
